»  Groupsoft Kick starts Gurgaon operations

Groupsoft, kick started its IT operations from Gurgaon. With a humble office and a telephone, Groupsoft formally started its IT dream from 7716, DLF Phase IV Gurgaon.

The retail industry has sustained high growth rates in the last few years and with the trend continuing, Groupsoft focused on leveraging its domain knowledge. With Corporates like Tata, Reliance, Goenka Group & Pantaloon taking a keen interest in this area and the likelihood of international brands like Wal-Mart, Tesco and Carrefour looking closely at India, the demand for IT in retail will certainly be growing.

Amitabh Nema, the Founder and Principal Retail Consultant, is banking on precisely that. After 8 years in technology positions with various companies he has taken the entrepreneurial route. "Retail has always been my passion, and I spent hours in retail stores and shopping areas understanding the nuances of successful retail strategy.  Having traveled much of Asia, Europe, & the US, I realized that retail technology in India hasn't matured to the level where it can leverage the disruptive changes that growing economy and consumer needs are bringing to our lives."

With no technology enforcing its presence in India in Retail technology the market today seems very open. However, SAP has promoted its retail solution aggressively in the Indian market and has had successes, but none too significant. However, the growth is certain, and Groupsoft intends to develop this technology expertise over a period of time. With its Movex Implementation underway at ITC Lifestyle Retail Business Division, the makers of Wills Lifestyle and John Players fashion apparel, Groupsoft has made the right beginning.

Another area of interest for Groupsoft was the growing demand of skilled IT manpower in various companies. With more and more companies looking to rationalize employees on their payroll, manpower outsourcing is slowly becoming the new buzz in India. Estimates show that the latent size of HR outsourcing in India is about $2 billion with a current market of $27 million and it is growing at a rate of about 50 per cent.

Capt (Retd.) Sanjay Pasbola has taken the growth of this division under his tutelage. 8 years with the Indian Army, an MBA from UK and 4 years of International corporate experience later, he realizes the potential of this field. "The growth if the IT industry in India will automatically trigger a high demand for skilled manpower. Meeting these requirements internally will be a challenge for the companies and hence, there will always be scope for companies like us. In addition, Resourcing will be a key activity with the growing challenges in retaining manpower in the wake of the aggressive recruitment strategies of competitors."

With its base in Gurgaon, Groupsoft has global ambitions of scaling up and serving the largest retail and IT companies in the world. With its promised team of engineers, experienced retail experts and friends and advisors, Groupsoft is ready for taking up the challenge.
